TAKING STOCK 39

TAKING STOCK 39

June always says, `we are mid-year.’’ I have felt the mid-year force and pressure since June began and even as it drew to a close. I am tired but okay. A friend said, “ maybe adulthood is about being tired and okay?’’ I felt that. Some days I am okay but on other days I`m tired and okay. Makes sense?

Anyway, June has been about pushing boundaries and saying yes to things I would have said no to. But nevertheless, I have had many celebratory moments. I have had amazing meetings that affirmed me, had the best phone call conversations with my mum, and done some great work I`m proud of. I`m forever grateful to God for choosing me to walk in His purpose.

Here is my June wrap-up;

Making: time to live. No one talks about how hard it is to live each day on this earth! I also had meetings with amazing people. Made time for conversations, Meet Your Author Series discussions, and speaking engagements. This month I spoke at the Disciples Youth Fellowship (DYF) on God`s Pursuit for Man and also at HER Business Forum on The Power of Reading. What an honour it has been to speak on topics that are close to my heart!!

Patricia Opio and Me during the Meet Your Author live Series Session at Goethe Zentrum Kampala.
The lovely audience during the Meet Your Author live session.

Eating: random food. I joined a fitness challenge of no sugar for 21 days but I can tell you that I followed through for one week and ovulation stepped in; I could not stay off sugar until the end of the month!

Drinking: water. It makes sense to drink water each day.

Reading: A Family Affair by Sue Nyathi, How to Wake A Butterfly by Loic Ekinga, The Golddiggers by Sue Nyathi, Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga, and Dating Dr.Dil by Nisha Sharma.

Wanting: money and travel.

Wasting: no time on things that don`t bring me joy.

Wishing: for travel.

Wondering: about patriarchy and women in the church. Most of us are not ready for this conversation.

Hoping: to do all things on my to-do lists. Honestly, some days it feels like I have less than 24 hours a day.

Marvelling: at the energy, we have as humans to get up each day no matter how hard yesterday was. What are we high on?

Smelling: Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. This perfume makes me feel better even on my worst days.

Wearing: my hair in dreadlocks.

Following: Tank. He is building the R n B money movement! It’s beautiful to watch people create amazing things. Listen to his podcast here. It is fun, I promise you. If you`re into the creative industry, this podcast is a must-listen in. So many nuggets to learn from the industry`s greatest.

Noticing: how I have been dreaming small.

Knowing: that not everything on the internet will make me happy.

Bookmarking: excerpts from the books I`m reading.

Feeling: good about my milestones in the first half of the year.

Song dedication: See what the Lord has done by Nathaniel Bassey. This song is so beautiful and powerful!!

Cheers to new beginnings.

Happy New month!
