The year has ended! Okay, that’s a bit too dramatic but you get what I mean? Are people in your neighbourhood putting up their Christmas trees, playing that ABBA or Philly Bongole Lutaya music yet? Are Hallmark movies with the Christmas plot showing yet? It`s business as usual where I live, sadly!
I am excited about Christmas this year. I am over 2022 already!! What a long year this has been! How many lives do we have to endure such a year? Are we cats? Don`t answer that.
t even get me started on the Queen`s death and black Twitter. From me to you, happy new year!!
Let`s dive into my August:
Making: time to be present in moments. I took a mini social media hiatus that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Eating: gonja crisps, crisps, sandwiches, sausage rolls and chocolates. Please do not comment on my waistline when you next see me. I will not be kind! Hahaha!
Drinking: tea and water. I will forever live for tea and water.
Reading: Beneath the Lion`s Gaze by Maaza Mengiste (A book club read), Honey and Spice, a steamy African romance by Bolu Babalola. Does this have a reading slump written all over it? You bet. I am still trying to get out of it.
Wanting: money and travel. Top ranking wants on my wants list.
Wasting: no time on things that don`t bring me joy.
Wishing: for travel. If travel knew how much I loved her, she would come to me with ease because what is this wanting??
Wondering: about life. All we do is work, work and work some more.
Hoping: to do all things on my to-do lists. Honestly, some days it feels like I have less than 24 hours a day.
Marvelling: at the energy, we have as humans to get up each day no matter how hard yesterday was. What are we high on?
Smelling: a breakthrough. The wait is made easy when you`re full of hope and drenched in expectation.
Wearing: my hair in dreadlocks. Though lately, I`m entertaining thoughts of cutting them.
Following: writers. The best thing I have done in a long time. So much wisdom in the mundane things writers do. haha!!
Noticing: how I have been dreaming SMALL!! There is more out there and I want it.
Knowing: that not everything on the internet will make me happy.
Bookmarking: excerpts from the books I`m reading.
Feeling: grateful and awakened. Grateful for the year is coming to an end soon. Awakened to how much I can do each day. Being young is a privilege.
Song dedication: See what the Lord has done by Nathaniel Bassey. This song is so beautiful and powerful!!
Cheers to new beginnings.
Happy New month! Happy new year!!
