Taking Stock 40

Taking Stock 40

July is gone!! I am not clinging to its remnants. I`m glad it’s gone. I`m excited about August because, in previous years, it has been a season of new beginnings.

I ended July on such a high now by attending a friend`s acoustic concert dubbed The Confession Box that I thoroughly enjoyed over a glass of red wine, pizza and good company. Follow Derrick Tha Priest for all the good music vibes.

Here is my July wrap-up;

Making: time to live. No one talks about how hard it is to live each day on this earth! I also made time to attend events that I thought would bring me joy like the Ngalabi Film Festival organized by Goethe Zentrum Kampala, The Confession Box by Derrick ThaPriest. I hosted an amazing writer Mugabi Byenkya on the Meet Your Author Series on Twitter.

Eating: snacks. Fries are the best thing to happen to the world. I would eat fries or chips every day if my body would let me.

Drinking: water. It makes sense to drink water each day. My skin is thanking me for it.

Reading: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie and A Killing In the Sun by Dilman Dila. Listen to Americanah on Scribd. It is a wonderful experience.

Wanting: money and travel.

Wasting: no time on things that don`t bring me joy.

Wishing: for travel.

Wondering: about life. All we do is work, work and work some more.

Hoping: August will be the season of new beginnings for me.

Marvelling: at the energy, we have as humans to get up each day no matter how hard yesterday was. What are we high on?

Smelling: new beginnings.

Wearing: my hair in dreadlocks.

Following: Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie. Americanah is sheer brilliance. Now I know why she gets all the attention. Americanah set a new tone in African literature.

Noticing: how I have been dreaming small.

Knowing: that not everything on the internet will make me happy.

Bookmarking: excerpts from Americanah. I got a book journal where I write quotes, thoughts that arise as I read a book. I am loving the experiencing of journalling my thoughts on a particular theme, quote or idealogoy.

Feeling: mellow about life.

Song dedication: See what the Lord has done by Nathaniel Bassey. This song is so beautiful and powerful!!

Cheers to new beginnings.

Happy New month!
