TAKING STOCK 37

TAKING STOCK 37

April birthed forth new things for me. I found myself applying for opportunities that previously I would have ignored. But a whole new world is opened unto me now. April was about pushing boundaries and walking out of my comfort zone. Was it easy, no. Was it rewarding, yes, it was?

Here is my April wrap-up;

Making: time to live. No one talks about how hard it is to live each day on this earth. I also attended a writing workshop organised by Quiet Gardening Publishing. It was exciting to be in a room full of writers.

Eating: food from Happy Plates. As one who doesn`t like cooking, having a week’s precooked meals delivered to my house is the best thing that happened to me in April. Anyway, feel free to contact Happy Plates for meals. All I had to do was warm my food each day. Check out recipes by Happy Plates here and here.

Drinking: water. The heat situation demands we keep hydrated.

Reading: Things They Lost by Okwiri Odour, Twisted: The Tangled History of Black Hair Culture by Emma Dabiri, Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover, Verity by Colleen Hoover.

Wanting: money and travel.

Wasting: No time on things that don`t bring me joy.

Wishing: for travel.

Wondering: about Uganda. The broken systems have affected us so deeply that we don`t see how to move forward.

Hoping: to create content consistently.

Marvelling: at what Afrobloggers as a community is doing for the digital storytellers on the continent.

Smelling: opportunities. I had an opportunity to be a #Abfacilitator during their inaugural fellowship. What a great time to be alive? I look forward to more opportunities in May.

Wearing: my hair in dreads.

Following: Okwiri Odour. The author of Things They Lost. The more I watch talks and interviews with Okwiri around her book, I appreciate it better. She is a great writer and her book is doing so much.

Noticing: how I have been dreaming small.

Knowing: that God will not let me down.

Bookmarking: excerpts from the books I`m reading.

Feeling: excited about the new month.

Song dedication: Bigger Everyday by Moses Bliss.

May you not labour in vain in May.

Happy New month!

How was your April?

  1. Always look forward to these, will be checking out happy plates .we all need a plug like this. Living is underated hence needing God on a daily. Praying for you for more opportunities to come with ease. Have a beautiful May.

  2. Here for the wants and wishes….. These will be granted one day.

Living life is something else but the grace of God is sufficient for a long life… Hihihi
