Taking Stock 22

Taking Stock 22

November has been a whole vibe. I had a couple of sleepless nights over projects I am passionate about. More than ever, I have learnt that purpose and passion require hard work. I turned a year older and had one of the best birthday celebrations ever with people I deeply love and I`m grateful for.

Here is a snippet of my November in a few words;

Making: time to pray for my new season, read and work on my passion projects.

Eating: irish potatoes with Sukuma wiki. Sukuma wiki aka collard greens have a long shelf life as opposed to nakati and buuga.

Drinking: water and spiced tea with cinnamon, ginger, and verbena leaves. (Still my habitual drink)

Reading: Whispers from Vera by Goretti Kyomuhendo, Foreign Gods, Inc by Okey Ndibe, The Joys of Motherhood by Buchi Emecheta, and Moonscapes: Short Stories and Poetry by African Writers Trust.

Wanting: to take a social media break. When the riots broke out across the country after presidential candidate Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi was arrested, I took time off social media and desired a two-month break which is currently not possible due to the nature of work.

Wasting: no time in taking a social media break.

Wishing: for an amazing December. For some reason this year, I am excited and looking forward to the festive season.

Wondering: about my new age and season. I am in a reflective mood over the goals I set and how far I have come. I wondered whether I ever knew what I wanted to achieve by 29.

Hoping: for a new season filled purpose and passion projects that bring in money, great friendships, love, and God encounters.

Marvelling: at how much work goes into pursuing one`s purpose and dreams.

Smelling: a new season in my life. I`m literally excited and can`t keep calm.

Wearing: my natural hair out. I`ve had it in the kinky twist braids for two months and now imma let it breathe. Natural hair sisters send me links to cool tutorials that will keep my hair looking fabulous.

Following: African Writers Trust because they have amazing books on sale and I want all those books on my bookshelf. They also have great opportunities for writers.

Noticing: how I have a phenomenal support system.

Knowing: that Romans 8:28 is true. “So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God’s perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfil his designed purpose.’’ (The Passion Translation)

Bookmarking: words from The Joys of Motherhood by Buchi Emecheta.

Feeling: grateful, content, and happy.

Song dedication: Mary Go Round by Derrick ThaPriest. (Warning: Don`t listen to this song when at your work deskπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it’s a massive jam. Your boss and colleagues might think you’re crazy.) Follow Derrick ThaPriest on youtube and subscribe to his channel for dope music.

This December may you experience Christ and remember the reason why we celebrate Christmas.
